About Amy
I am a writer and teacher who has always strived to tackle a fresh challenge, problem-solve, make the undoable possible, the un-listened to heard through self-expression. I studied film and psychology as an undergraduate at Harvard University. Since that time, I have pursued self-expression and effecting change through various media and teaching. I have written screenplays for most of the major studios and networks. My writing credits include dramatic and comedic television (Beverly Hills 90210, Melrose Place), feature film (Girls Just Want to Have Fun), which is getting remade by Elizabeth Banks and also is being adapted into a musical stage-play, videogame (Electronic Arts story/game Majestic), social media, transmedia, webisodes, digital, documentary (PBS), print, and journalism (Los Angeles Review of Books, Huffington Post).
My teaching encompasses screenwriting, tv writing, mentoring military veterans through the Writer’s Guild, and judging screenplays and teleplays for the Writers Guild and PEN literary organization. I have been awarded a Harvard University Traveling Fellowship, a Salzberg Global Institute Journalist Fellowship, a Norman Mailer Writer’s Colony Fellowship, and a T. S. Eliot Writer’s Residency. In addition, I teach Mindful Writing, a curriculum I have created and developed for diverse individuals and groups globally. Participants include professional writers, writing students at universities including UCLA and USC, mindfulness practitioners, global human rights activists, and underserved individuals including those who experience homelessness, neuro-diverse issues, or have been incarcerated in the juvenile justice system. I am currently finishing my first novel, developing Mindful Writing courses online and off, plus evolving my ongoing television projects. I am also developing a graphic novel set in the wild and crazy early days of high-tech
